Halloween Traditions

We have only celebrated Halloween the last few years.  That means my family doesn't really have any traditions, each year has looked a little different.  Growing up my family pretty much did the same thing each year.  This year one of those childhood memories didn't happen.  My grandmother gave my kids jello for Halloween, not home made caramel corn.
I can still remember walking into what is now my kitchen to the yummy smell of the crunchy goodness.  She would pull the blue enamel ware pan out of the oven and fill up the bags with  the caramel corn and a fun surprise, so it was just like cracker jacks.    The last few years my kids have not been big fans of the caramel corn.  So guess who really enjoyed great grandma's treat!   My mom has started her own tradition of making the kids owl cookies each year.
Since Bryan was diabetic mom was always looking for a cookie recipe with little sugar, that still tasted good.  These cookies fit the bill!   My kids now think it is not Halloween without grandma's owl cookies.  Here are a few pictures of the fun things we have done the last couple of weeks!
