One of our family goals this year, was to going camping with our friends. In January the plan was to stay at a local state park not to far from home. Well, nothing has gone as planned this year. At the beginning of the summer my childhood church camp posted on facebook, that they were renting out the camp for the summer. Since they were not able to hold their normal camps this was one way to bring in some revenue for the year. I sent my friend a message and said, "what do you think about renting camp with us?" Her response was that her husband had suggested the same thing a few nights before. Family camp was born!
As we planned the weekend, we asked our kids what camp activities they wanted to do. There were a few things us adults wanted to happen too. A schedule was made thanks to a very organized dad. Here is a rough draft of what we did all weekend. The great thing about being with friends - we used the schedule more like a guide to help us do everything we wanted in our three days.
Here are a few of the crazy things I did over the weekend. I went down the water slide. I played crab soccer. Trevor and I had a canoe race against another couple.
Sunday morning Trevor lead the morning devotional, then we had a baptism service. It was a wonderful way to end our weekend together.
I'm honestly not sure who had more fun the kids or the adults. It was easily the best weekend we have had this summer. The craziness of 2020 has made for lots of disappointments. Family camp did not disappoint. In fact we are all ready talking about what we want to do next year.
