February Books 2018

Here is what I read for my challenge in February.

For Book Club
The Girl in the Garden
Kamla Nair
What I am enjoying the most about book club is that I'm reading books I would never have picked on my own.  This is about a family in India and starts in modern day then jumps back to the main character's childhood.  It's an interesting story but took me almost till the end before I started to enjoy it or understand what was happening.  It made for a great discussion at book club.  However, I would not read it again.

My audio book and the book I read to the kids.
A Wrinkle in Time
Madeleine L'Engle

My kids loved this book.  We read it this month so that we could go see the movie.  We have a family rule that you read the book before you see the movie.  I laughed at my kids when we left the theater.  They all hated the movie.  They also had no problem telling people that.  Since they loved the book so much it's what we are giving away this month.  To win a copy just leave a comment on the blog about your favorite sci fi book, movie or tv show
We will pick a winner on April 15th!

Modern Mrs Darcy Book Challenge - book recommended by a friend
Love That Boy
Ron Fournier

My friend Laura told me to read this book so that we can discuss it.  I read it but we still haven't had a chance to talk about it.  It's a great story about a father and son connecting.   I love how the history was thrown in while he road tripped with his son.   It's a wonderful reminder that our children may not be who we think they should be and that we should love them for who they are not who we want them to be.

  1. I’m not sure I could pick just one favorite.
Perhaps “Out of the Silent Planet” or “A Wrinkle in Time?”

  2. I am not a sci-fi person, but have recently enjoyed Percy Jackson.
